WHO WE ARE
The Carolinas Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate
The Carolinas Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) was founded in 1982 by seven commercial real estate professionals looking to build camaraderie and enhance networking among individuals with a similar integrity and commitment to the commercial real estate industry. Since then, this exclusive, invitation-only group has grown to include more than 40 members located predominantly throughout the Carolinas.
CREs are known for their uncompromising commitment to the highest ethical standards and their thoughtful analysis and problem-solving skills related to real estate. CRE members come from all facets of commercial real estate. The Carolinas Chapter membership possesses a wide-ranging expertise that includes valuation, law, brokerage, asset management, development, investment, lending, corporate real estate and economic and fiscal impact studies. Members include service providers, capital sources, property owners and managers, academics, and public officials.
THE CRE DESIGNATION
OUR HISTORY
We are CREative Thinkers
For nearly 10 years, the Carolinas Chapter sponsored the CREative Thinkers Awards, which honored individuals for their creative thinking across all professions that touch commercial real estate. Award recipients often exhibited out-of-the box thinking that viewed obstacles and risks as opportunities, or they made decisions that shifted conventional thinking in a way that produced a local, regional or global impact. Winners include a range of professionals, such as developers, architects, public officials and employees, and non-profits supporting gravely ill children. Learn more about past winners and their accomplishments here.
In addition, the Carolinas Chapter has sponsored various meetings and luncheons where emerging issues are discussed. Past topics include the importance of Edge Cities and the emergence of the 24-hour City.
The Carolinas Chapter also works closely with the national CRE organization through the Consulting Corps to provide commercial real estate expertise to advance the common good.
The national CRE group has 1,100 members worldwide and a vibrant, international presence reflecting 20 countries. Learn about the national organization here.
